OUR “PRIME OVBECTIVE” APPROACH TO PROBLEM SOLVING IS BASED ON:
Identifying the “Primary Objective”
A project can often have multiple objectives or business goals. Identifying the main one helps to ensure that delivery of your highest priority is not hindered by lesser considerations and distractions.
We call this “Identifying your Primary Objective”.
Maintaining Focus
This typically occurs because those involved are not aware of the primary objective or additional requests for functionality dilute the project focus.
We avoid this by making the primary objective an integral part t of the ongoing project. Your company’s participants and the Prime Objective project team members use this as a gauge for all work to be done.
In this way, both business and technology team members can constantly ask the question, “does this further the main goal of the project?”
By keeping your primary object in focus, the chances for success
increase dramatically.
Rapidly Delivering Results
Another typical project issue is the time taken to deliver any useful result. This goes hand in hand with maintaining focus.
When attention is diverted, the time and the corresponding cost to complete a project increase.
Often, this occurs to such an extent that the project is delivered
when the business condition that gave rise to that original goals
and objectives are no longer applicable.
Using the decision-making framework described previously to maintain focus, we strive to deliver against the primary objective with time and budget constraints.
Looping Back to the Next Objective
So what did we do with the other objectives initially identified?
Once a project is completed, the next highest priority is then identified as the “primary objective” and the process is repeated.
We look at each objective to determine if the return against that objective warrants proceeding with an additional project.
